About Lindsey

Hello. I am Lindsey George, originally of Kingwood, Texas. Recently I just graduated from Auburn University and was 'relieved to received' my bachelor's degree in Public Relations. While at Auburn I attempted to pursue a degree in a variety of fields including: industrial design, interior design, geology (I like rocks) and, finally settled with public relations. For the last 6 years I have been regularly living and traveling between Auburn, Ala.; Atlanta Ga.; Houston, Tx. and New York City/Brooklyn. NY. The majority of my interest are focused around the arts (all of them), urban living (and all that entails), social media/PR, the study of politics/philosophy and the environment/the nature of natural living. All together I am a self-proclaimed social scientist, geologist, artists, problem solver, social media expert and a wise-all knowing-comic relief. BUT according to Auburn University I'm a PR practitioner with a special interest in art/design -figures. And now my disclaimer: I do not claim to write, good! I am a product of my origional environment (Texas) and therefore write like I talk and talk like a rambling Texan. In my writing I use many asides and under-the-breath statements -they are my favorite- and I quote my favorite movies more than I think for myself. "Curious George of the Urban Jungle" is my latest project and has no affiliation with any company or organization. It is my personal blog pertaining to my personal experiences of urban living and doesn't reflect the thoughts or views of anyone else other than myself. I started "Curious George of the Urban Jungle" in order to uncover the vast majority of all my thoughts/interests and sum me up in a nutshell... ("Help. I'm in a nutshell" -Austin Powers) I hope you enjoy it!

Regarding Personal and Official Use of State Vehicles

On March 2, State Representative Terri Hodge filed HB 2097, relating to the personal and official use of state vehicles.  This bill, if enacted, would require DPS officers, as well as all state employees that drive a state-owned vehicle, to use their personal funds when paying for fuel for their vehicles.  The bill permits employees to seek reimbursement from the state for their expenditures.  While we believe that Representative Hodge is usually supportive of law enforcement and state employee issues, we find this legislation to be unacceptable.  There are already remedies to those employees who abuse their responsibilities of operating state-owned vehicles, but this bill serves no useful purpose other than to put a financial strain and new paperwork burden on state employees.  The Department of Public Safety Officers Association will oppose this bill.

Government Affairs Advisor, DPSOA

President’s note:

Members, I know that many of you are very concerned about this piece of legislation. Please be assured that the DPS Officers Association will be monitoring this bill and will aggressively fight to keep it from passing.  We are confident that at the end of the session, this bill will not be enacted.
